Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September, 1965) is an American dance instructor,
choreographer and reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company was founded by
her. It aired on eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. Miller pleaded guilty on
June 27th, 2016 to the charge of felony bankruptcy fraud. She was sentenced to
one year and one day in federal prison and was released on March 27 the 27th of
March, 2018. The diagnosis of lymphoma was made in April of this year. It is a
form of cancer that renders her incapable of walking. She uses a wheelchair for
mobility. Miller grew up in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. Her mother taught her to
dance at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. In 1980, at age 14 years old, Miller
was assigned the task in choreographing and coaching one of the dance teams of
her mother. Miller later took over the studio in 1995 , and changed its name to
it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America,
and she was a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February
1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012, citing that
Miller's reality television show Dance Moms was a "complete mistaken
portrayal of the teachers we have and students" and was harmful to the
profession.
